Robbers kill farmer, steal motorcycle

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers on Saturday night killed a 50-year-old farmer, Mathias Abah, and stole his motorcycle along Oda Road in the outskirt of Akure, Ondo State capital.

Abah, a father of 12 children and two wives, was killed while returning from his farm located around Isagba camp to Oda town in Akure South Local Government.

Brother of the deceased, Friday Bernard, explained that Abah was attacked by the hoodlums when he was returning from Oda town, where he had gone to drop his daughter, Esther, who was to write a common entrance examination into secondary schools in the state.

He stated that his brother was shot by the hoodlums who made away with his motorcycle while returning from where Ogbe High School, Oda, where he dropped her daughter.

Bernard said the remains of his brother was moved to the mortuary by policemen from Ala Police Division.

Confirming the incident, the state command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Femi Joseph, said the deceased was shot dead by the hoodlums before leaving with his motorcycle.

Joseph, however, said the command had commenced investigation into the matter with a pledge to bring the perpetrators of the crime to book.
