The President of the Gbarain Youth Federation has described circulating rumors on social media about a pipeline explosion in Gbarain Kingdom as false and harmful.
The Youth President, Pere Orufa, urged the public to refrain from spreading fake news to avoid creating unnecessary security tensions within the community.
Earlier reports claimed that a pipeline had exploded near Gbarain Kingdom, Bayelsa State, coinciding with President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
His statement reads “the general public should be informed that there was no explosion of manifold or pipeline in Gbarain kingdom.
“Stop spreading fake news thereby creating unnecessary security tensions in the clan. Now the military has entered the area, causing tension as people are scaparing for safety.”
