Rivers Accord Party hails INEC for upholding due process

THE Rivers State Chapter of the Accord Party, (AP) has congratulated its National Assembly candidates for making the final list of candidates approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to contest the February 16 National Assembly elections in the state.

The party in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Dason Nemieboka, also hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for doing the right thing by ensuring that only those names that were duly submitted by the constitutionally empowered National Working Committee of the party, which conducted the primaries and forwarded their names to INEC as the successful candidates to fly the party’s flag in the general elections, were duly published.

According to the statement, “We were ordinarily not expecting anything different from INEC. Our Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates are on the ballot because we are on the right side of the law.”

The party heartily congratulate all our national Assembly candidates who made the list assuring the state that the Accord Party would not disappoint if given the mandate to represent the people in the National assembly.

Nemieboka stated: “We are also satisfied with the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, for upholding due process by ensuring that only those whose names were submitted by our National Working Committee, which had the constitutional mandate to conduct primaries and submit names as our flag bearers for the general elections, were published.

We, therefore, have no doubts that INEC will also publish the name of Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs as the authentic and recognized Rivers state Accord governorship candidate for the March 2 governorship elections when the time comes.”
