Civil Society Organizations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI) on Thursday called on President Bola Tinubu’s to review the extant tax reform policy and the Presidential Committee on Food Security with a view to address the menace of food insecurity across the country.
CSCHEI Executive Director, Hon. Kunle Yusuf gave the charge in Abuja during the official inauguration of ‘CSCHEI Advocacy Council’, ‘National Committee on Project 774 Loval Government SDGs Influencers’; National Committee on ‘No Teachers, No Development Initiative’ and ‘National Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility Development’, respectively.
He also underscored the urgent need to review the existing pension policy house mortgage financing as part of measures aimed at alleviating
He maintained that: “It is a known fact that the entire Universe is still nursing the negative effect of Covid-19 which drastically affected projections of UN-SDGs Global Agenda. At the moment the whole world is facing Socio Economic Development challenges and Nigeria is not exempted.
“On this note, everyone working within, or around or in the Development Space in Nigeria must be ready to serve our dear Nation with all sense of meritocracy, pragmatism and honesty.
“At CSCHEI, our working principle is driven by Logic, Science and Data in alignment with Global Agenda 2030. All our institutional members are ready to support Government to achieve SDG Agenda, COP28 Climate Change Recommendations, Great Green Wall Strategic Policies and National Development Plan Components.
“We therefore appeal to Mr. President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to constitute an administrative committee to align economic policies with development initiative in order to comply with the Global manual Agenda 2030.”
He also applauded President Tinubu’s administration for taking the bold steps on Local Government Autonomy, Student Loans, New Ministry of Livestock, administrative engagement between Presidency and National Labour Union on Salary Scales and aggressiveness marketing of our country to Global market.
On her part, Mrs. Sarah Pane who reiterated the Organization’s resolve towards community advancement and humanitarian empowerment, showered encomium on CSCHEI’s leadership for various people oriented projected implemented so far.
She said: “The Civil Society Organisation On Community Advancement And Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative took off in the last quarter of last year with a deep hunger; the hunger to make an impact on the lives of Nigerians and communities. It hoped to achieve this both directly and by supporting the hundreds of NGOs with which it shared a common vision to do the same.
“Ambitiously it declared at the beginning of this year that it was going to, among others, construct public toilets and solar powered boreholes in all the 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria. A special training programme was also envisaged. But at the end it had to bow to the adage that says ‘if wishes were horses, then beggars may ride’.
“At the end, CSCHEI had to calm down and give a little more time. The interlude has led to the review that has given birth to today’s programme. May I at this point specially congratulate and welcome members-in-waiting of the Council and the three Committees to be inaugurated shortly. I believe that you are all prepared for the added responsibility ahead, agreeing with the adage that says ‘uneasy lies the head that wears the crown’.”
