
Inspector General of Police (GP), Ibrahim Idris has implored officers and men of Nigerian Police to remain vigilant, resolute, deal firmly and decisively with all politically motivated crimes in all its ramifications.
The Inspector General of Police who gave the advice during the graduation ceremony of Tactical Leadership and Command Course held at the Police Staff College Jos, Plateau State said respect for human right is now critical factor to reckon with when dealing with security challenges that bedevil the nation.
The AIG charged them to dominate their areas of responsibilities positively with a view of checkmating all acts threatening society orderliness, peaceful co-existence and cohesion adding that it is compulsory for them to ensure diligent and good conduct in the enforcement of the laws of the land.
“Revamp your intelligence gathering network to check mate activities of criminals who are becoming more sophisticated by the day. Surely we can make Nigeria safer and more secured, however we must win the hearts and minds of the people in order to enlist their trust and support.”
According to him one of the ways to win peoples’ hearts is to sustain partnership with stakeholders as embedded in the principles of community policing and complement with town hall meeting with eminent persons and stakeholders.
In his address the Commandant Police Staff College, AIG Dorothy Gimba said tactical course is a development course for officers of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police adding that the course is designed to enhance their capacities in Human/Material Resources Management and Techniques in the performance of police duties in line with international best practices.
He charged them to bring the knowledge they acquired to bear in the performance of their duty and also impact positively on their subordinates and mentor them to bring about a more efficient, effective, proactive, responsive and friendly police force that will be better appreciated by Nigerians.
