THE House of Representatives on Thursday passed for second reading, a bill that sought to amend the examination malpractice Act.
The bill sought to vest further jurisdiction in other courts to try offenses committed under the Act, and to review the same and equal punishment and penalty regime provided in the Act.
The bill also sought to confer the states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High courts with jurisdiction to entertain cases of violation of the Act.
The bill was sponsored by Hon Ayuba Bello and Aminu suleiman.
Also the House has consolidated two bills that sought to amend the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Act.
The consolidated bills are: “a bill for an Act to amend the National Youth Service Corps Act, Cap. Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to provide for free and compulsory acquisition of vocational skills by corps members and other related matters (HB.972)l sponsored by Hon Ayeola Abayomi Abdul-Kabir‎.
The other consolidated bill is “a bill for an Act to amend the National Youth Service Corps Act, Cap N84, laws of the federation of Nigeria, 2004, to among other things, make participation in the service corps scheme optional in order to minimise the cost of maintaining the scheme and to allow only those graduate that are genuinely interested to participate and for other related matter, (HB. 957) sponsored by Hon Mojeed Alabi.
