Reps member condemns herdsmen attack in Ebonyi community

Member Representing Ezza North and Ishielu Federal Constituency at the National Assembly Hon. Joseph Nwobasi, has condemned the attack of his constituents by herdsmen which many were feared killed and properties worth of millions destroyed.

According to Nwobasi, “The barbaric act of the herdsmen, which led to the loss of innocent lives, injuries, and destruction of properties, is unacceptable and must not be tolerated.”

Nwobasi stated this in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen on Tuesday after he visited the area.

He, however, called on the Federal Government and the Ebonyi State Government to take immediate steps to strengthen security in Ishielu LGA and other vulnerable areas to prevent a recurrence of such tragic incidents.

“Our communities must not continue to live under the threat of violence and bloodshed.

” With a heavy heart, I condemn in the strongest terms the senseless attack on the peaceful people of Amagu community in Nkalaha, Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the early hours of February 2, 2025.

“It is heartbreaking that yet again, our people have been subjected to unwarranted violence, leaving families in grief and our community in fear.

“No individual or group has the right to take the lives of others or disrupt the peace and security of any community.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for a quick recovery for those who sustained injuries.

“I call on the security agencies to swiftly investigate this attack, apprehend the perpetrators, and ensure that justice is served.

“Our people deserve to live without fear, and it is the responsibility of the government and security forces to guarantee the safety of all citizens.

“I stand in solidarity with the people of Nkalaha during this difficult time and assure them that I will do everything within my legislative capacity to ensure their safety and well-being.

“May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may justice prevail”.
