The Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, has thrown his weight behind the DoubleTree All Purpose Farmers’ Cooperative Society in its efforts to strengthen partnerships with the African Union (AU) and European investors to drive sustainable growth and rural transformation in Nigeria.
The endorsement came during a courtesy visit to the lawmaker by Ambassador Young Piero Omatseye, Director of the Parliament of the African Union Simulation Agenda 2063, who led a delegation of Bulgarian investors from Neuro Pharma Group, headed by Ms Velichka Stamenova, to the National Assembly, Abuja.
Ambassador Omatseye described the collaboration between the AU Simulation Parliament, DoubleTree Cooperative, and the European investors as a strategic initiative to promote technology transfer, job creation, and agricultural innovation across Africa.
He emphasised that the AU’s Agenda 2063 provides a blueprint for Africa’s socio-economic transformation and calls for stronger private-sector engagement in achieving its objectives.
In her remarks, Ms Stamenova said Neuro Pharma Group is eager to invest in Africa’s pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, particularly in vaccine manufacturing, local production, and regulatory harmonisation under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.
She reaffirmed the EU-AU delegation’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s agriculture, healthcare, education, and infrastructure sectors.
The President of DoubleTree Cooperative group, Hajia Hariratu Suleiman Yakubu, appreciated Hon. Halims for the warm reception and announced plans for a large-scale coconut plantation in Kogi State as part of efforts to boost local production, promote export, and create employment opportunities.
Hajia Yakubu also presented an invitation to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, through Hon. Halims, for the upcoming African Union Programme in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where she is scheduled to speak on agricultural innovation and investment.
Responding, Hon. Halims commended DoubleTree Cooperative for attracting reputable international partners, pledging his full support for the coconut plantation initiative.
He described such partnerships as vital for economic diversification, community empowerment, and sustainable national development.
He also lauded the AU and EU delegations for their sustained interest in Nigeria’s progress and expressed optimism that such alliances would yield lasting benefits for the country.
The meeting concluded with all parties reaffirming their commitment to inclusive growth, innovation, and sustainable investment across Nigeria.
