The Federal Lawmaker representing Ohaozara/Onicha and Ivo Federal Constituency, Hon. Kama Nkemkanma, has mourned the passing of a first-class traditional ruler of Onicha Igboeze kingdom in Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State, Ezeogo Elder Dr Agom Eze, describing it as a great loss.
The late monarch, who was the pioneer Chairman of the Ebonyi State Traditional Rulers Council, died at the age of 92.
Kama said the late Ezeogo Elder Dr Agom Eze was a pacesetter in every sense, an accomplished public servant, astute academic, and cynosure of custom and tradition, who exemplified excellence and integrity in service.
He commiserated with the Royal Family of Ezeogo Elder Dr Agom Eze, the good people of Igboeze Onicha, and Ebonyi State.
“It is with a great sense of loss that I received the news of the passing of HRH, Ezeogo Elder Dr Agom Eze, Igboezekuna of Igboeze Onicha, who joined his ancestors at the age of 92.
“Ezeogo Agom Eze was a pacesetter in every sense, an accomplished public servant, astute academic, and cynosure of our custom and tradition, who exemplified excellence and integrity in service.
“A first-class graduate of Economics from the prestigious University of London (1963) and PhD from the University of Dublin (1966), Dr Agom Eze was a shining example of academic excellence. He taught at Alvan Ikoku College of Education, Owerri, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and retired as an Associate Professor (Reader).
“He served as Commissioner of Industries, Trade and Cooperatives, Education, Information, Works and Housing in the old Imo state. He was the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission in the old Imo and Abia States. He was also the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of Council of Abia State University and Ebonyi State University.
“Late Ezeogo Agom Eze was the pioneer Chairman of the Ebonyi State Traditional Rulers Council, a position he held for many years. A recipient of double National Honours; Member Order of the Niger, and Officer Order of the Niger. He sat on the board of many companies before his demise. Indeed, an Iroko has fallen.
“We are, however, consoled by his legacy of excellence, integrity, and service.
“On behalf of my family and the awesome people of Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency, I commiserate with the Royal Family of Ezeogo Elder Dr Agom Eze, the good people of Igboeze Onicha, and Ebonyi State.
“May the soul of our departed King rest in peace,” Kama stated.
