Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, stormed Kebbi State on Tuesday with the “Renewed Hope” agenda mantra aimed at encouraging women in the state to be fully engaged in rural agriculture. She made cash donations and provided other agricultural implements to sustain the programs in the state.
While in the state, Senator Oluremi Tinubu also flagged off the Renewed Hope initiative for women support programs in the North-West states of the Federation, with twenty beneficiaries from each state receiving a cash support of 10 million naira per state.
Mrs. Tinubu, represented by the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajiya Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, stated that each benefiting female farmer would receive Five Hundred Thousand Naira as a deliberate effort to stimulate women’s participation in agriculture and food security, besides poultry and fish farming.
“Agriculture plays a pivotal role in achieving sustainable development and food security,” she emphasized.
Consequently, she announced the introduction of a garden competition in every home to encourage Nigerian women to cultivate a garden in their homes, aiming to feed the family and share with neighbors. “We want to see food on the table in every home,” she added.

In her speech, the host First Lady and wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, stated that in support of the First Lady’s initiative, she had donated solar-powered water pumps to each of the benefiting women farmers from the zone to boost their yields.
She expressed gratitude to Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her generosity and for choosing Kebbi State to launch the program for the North-West Region.
In his remarks, Governor Nasir Idris announced that his administration had expended an enormous amount of money on the procurement of fertilizer, solar and CNG-powered irrigation pumps, as well as other agricultural inputs, which were distributed free to farmers to strengthen agricultural production in the state.
He assured that the government would continue to provide an enabling environment to support the participation of women in agriculture, including access to market finance and technology for food security.
