In Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, a joint team comprising security agents and local vigilantes has reportedly recovered the decomposing remains of six missing police officers.
These slain policemen were recently deployed from IRT Abuja, PMF 51 Oghara, and the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Asaba, Delta State, to rescue three missing officers in Ohoror community, Ughelli North. Sadly, they allegedly met their demise at the hands of suspected herdsmen.
The security team scoured the Agadama forest on Sunday and Monday, successfully locating some of the missing policemen’s bodies.
Recall that on January 24, 2024, three police officers responded to a distress call from Moses Progress (currently at large), who claimed he was robbed by suspected herdsmen while performing a ritual under a bridge near Ohoror community.
These three officers, all Inspectors, remain among the missing to date.
One inspector narrowly escaped and reported that six policemen were killed, while 15 others are still unaccounted for.

However, the Delta State Police Command has yet to respond to the tragedy since it occurred in late January.
As reported by Vanguard, the combined team of security agents, who recovered the six corpses of the slain policemen last weekend, also destroyed the enclaves of the herdsmen in Agadama forest of the community, while others are still missing.
“The recovered corpses of the officers have been deposited at Mariere Central Hospital morgue in Ughelli.
“While depositing them at the morgue, some officials of the Delta State government were with the vigilante members, though it was not confirmed if the officials were representatives of the government.
“They spent over three hours at the hospital morgue during the documentation before being attended to at Ughelli Central Hospital,” the paper quoted a senior police officer as saying.
