The president of a notable charity organisation, Relume Charitable Foundation, Nigeria and USA, Professor Sheri Adeosun is bereaved.
The USA-based health expert and philanthropist, who has helped many people through her Non-Governmental Organisation both in Nigeria and overseas, lost her mother, Madam Bukonla Balogun aged 92 last week.
Professor Adeosun, indeed, has not recovered from the shock of the passing of her beloved mum as she noted that she had lost a woman who raised her to be kind and compassionate and impact the lives of the underprivileged.
Professor Adeosun’s tight schedule could not overwhelm her passion for the younger generation as she and her team identified with school children in the Makoko area of Lagos and a private school she donated to Idogo town in Ogun State during her recent visit to Nigeria.
The don, who was fortunate to witness the last moment of her mum following her recent visit to Nigeria, said, “I was in the country for an important assignment and then decided to spend some time with her, but was shocked that she was so weak. We tried all we could, but she passed a week later. All is well.
“A limb had fallen from the family tree, my mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
She spent a good life and left an indelible legacy. I will miss her greatly.”
Madam Balogun, who is survived by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will be given a befitting burial very soon.
