Relative peace in N/Delta not your making, PDP tells Buhari

buhari and pdp, PeaceTHE current relative peace being enjoyed in the volatile Niger Delta region leading to a jump in crude oil production is not an achievement by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government.

The development should be attributed to the South-South PDP governments which have partnered with the youth and the steady developmental projects visible to militants in the region.

A chieftain of the PDP in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, made the remarks while reacting to President Buhari’s Democracy Day speech on Tuesday.

The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Central Naval Command, Rear Admiral Saleh Usma, had announced last week that crude oil production has increased from 1.8 million barrels per day to 2.9 million barrels per day since January 2018.

Onuesoke, a former PDP governorship aspirant, said “The relative peace in the Niger Delta is due to how the PDP government in South-south are partnering with the youths in the region.

“The relative peace in the region is due to assurances of development the militants are seeing by the south governments of PDP,”

Chief Onuesoke took a swipe at the entire presidential broadcast, brandishing 69 per cent of it as lies.

“The broadcast is loaded with 69 per cent lies. In a civilized clime like in the western world these broadcast is enough for Buhari to resign and apologized to Nigerians for the failures of APC and solid good three years of waste,” he noted.

Describing the three years of APC FG as a waste, the political activist said: “The greatest and worst part of the wasted three years of APC is the methods employed by his security team to hoodwink innocent Nigerians by implementing selective justice and malicious approach to the prosecution of perceived enemies of his government.”

On the fight against corruption, the PDP chieftain quipped that the president “goofed from not fighting within and inside of APC than starting from outside. 95% of corrupt Nigerians are in power within the ruling party.”

Speaking further on the content of the broadcast, Chief Onuesoke opined that “Buhari broadcast is quite embarrassing to me as a Nigerian and to the world as a nation.

“How could a sworn in president tells so much lies just to satisfy the curiosity of his cabals.

“He made his broadcast without figures and dates. How could Buhari tell the world that oil PRODUCTION has increased?

“What has the increment translated into in the living standard of Nigerians? Buhari government, in the history of Nigeria, has the worst rule of law.

“Imagine a government, which dipped its hands into our foreign reserve without a recourse to the rule of law, saying he wants to use it to fight insurgency in the north east?”

It will be recalled that President Buhari had, on Tuesday morning during his third-year anniversary broadcast to the nation, said the Niger Delta was enjoying relative peace through its efforts and that the corruption fight has been effective and received global applause.

“The Niger Delta Region has enjoyed relative peace through social inclusiveness and cooperation of the Elders and the good people of the region. Government is committed to implementing the comprehensive peace, security and development plan for the region.

“The environmental clean-up of the region which commenced with the launch in Bodo, Ogoni in June 2016 is progressing satisfactorily. Furthermore, farming assets are being revived and investors in cocoa and palm oil plantations are showing serious interest.

“The second primary object of this Administration is to fight corruption headlong. Like I have always said, if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will destroy the country.

“Three years into this Administration, Nigerians and the international community have begun to applaud our policies and determination to fight corruption.

“We are more than ever before determined to win this war, however hard the road is. I, therefore, appeal to all well-meaning Nigerians to continue to support us in this fight,” Buhari had stated.
