SCHOLARS and graduates from different fields from all parts of the globe have converged at Redeemer’s University, Ede, in Osun State, for the 2016 Annual Toyin Falola Conference (TOFAC), on Africa and Africa in Diaspora.
According to Dr Babatunde Oni, Head of Department, Mass Communication Redeemer’s University, the participants will deliberate for three days on ‘Africanity’ as theme of the conference.
“Within the three days of deliberation, which started on Monday, the conference will provide opportunities for interaction, exchange of ideas, networking and feedback on issues relating to Africanness and Africans’ recognition of their own Africanness; mental decolonisation, reaffirmation, rediscovery and renaissance of Africa as well as search for indigenous knowledge.
“The conference, which was inaugurated in recognition of the outstanding contributions of Toyin Falola, the renowned professor of African and African American history, was first held at the University of Ibadan in July 2011,” he said
