President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been commended for the introduction of the student loan scheme, NELFUND, as more students of The Federal Polytechnic Ayede are benefiting from the intervention.
This was stated recently by the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed during the ninth governing council meeting of the institution held at the permanent site of the institution in Ayede.
Speaking further at the meeting which was presided over by the chairman of the Governing Council, Honourable Yakubu Dati, Rector lauded the initiative, saying “it will alleviate the financial burden on indigent students and their families.”
He commended the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, TETFUND and other intervening agencies for seeing to the completion of over twenty projects at the permanent site of the institution in addition to others at the temporary site, which he noted had enabled students’ enrollment to keep growing by the day.
He also applauded the chairman of the Governing Council, for approving the long-standing issues on staff transfer of service, promotions and training, thereby restoring industrial harmony and peaceful coexistence in the system.
Dr Abdul-Hameed also stated that the polytechnic is an active partner at the forth-coming Ogbomoso Education Summit being hosted by the Soun Ogbomoso, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye,Orumagege 111, as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Highlights of the ninth governing council meeting included the inspection of projects and consideration and approvals of committee reports.
