THE Ansar-Ud-Deen Society (ADS), Oyo State council, has commended the state government under the leadership of Mr Seyi Makinde on the recent recruitment of teachers for primary and secondary schools.
The commendation was contained in a communique issued after the council’s 13th triennial congress held in Ogbomoso between 19 and 22 December, 2024.
The ADS, however, implored the government to “address the absence of Islamic Religion Knowledge (IRK) teachers in most of our public schools,” saying “this shall go a long way in curbing moral decadence among our youths.”
It urged Islamic organisations to actively pursue the establishment of zakat and sadaqah foundations as well as Islamic cooperatives as crucial initiatives for enhancing the economic and social well-being of the ummah.
The congress encouraged the state council of the ADS to implement strategic plans, which should include empowerment, especially in area of Information and Communication Technology and spiritual and moral development at the branch levels, to attract and engage younger Muslims within the fold of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society.
It commiserated with the government and people of Oyo State and the families and loved ones of the children who lost their lives in the recent stampede incident in Ibadan.
“We pray for the repose of their souls and beseech Allah (SWT) to grant the bereaved families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. We also extend our heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery of the injured,” it said.
The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society in Oyo State also condoled with the Muslim ummah in Nigeria and abroad on the recent passing of the Northern States Council missioner of the organisation, Alhaji Sheikh Muideen Ajani Bello.
It prayed Allah accept the ibadah of the late renowned scholar and preacher, forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Janat Firdaus.
“May Allah give the family, the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society and the entire Muslim ummah the fortitude to bear this great loss,” it added.
Concerned about the high inflation in the country, the congress appealed to the Federal Government to implement measures that provide relief to citizens to mitigating the impact of the rising cost of living and reduce the rates of associated crimes and social vices.
While acknowledging the efforts of the federal and state governments in combating insecurity, especially the recent efforts to end the menace of the Lakurawa insurgency, the congress emphasised the need for intensified efforts in securing the lives and property of Nigerians.
It emphasised the importance of “unwavering support from all branches towards the state and national councils,” saying “this collective effort is essential for the successful implementation of programmes, policies and initiatives aimed at advancing the Society’s objectives.”
The congress, in the communique drafted by a committee headed by the state Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lasisi Akinade, called on all members of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society to unite and continue to “strive for the betterment of our community.”
