The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Region 8 Plateau family has donated assorted food items and other items to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Barakin-Ladi local government area of Plateau State.
It would be recalled that no fewer that 200 people were killed and 35,000 displaced recently as a result of attacks in 12 villages in Barakin-Ladi and Riyom local government areas of the State.
Presenting the items, the Special Assistant to the General Overseer of the RCCG, who is also the Pastor in charge of Region 8, Pastor Sunday Akande strongly condemned the killings and commiserate with the people and government of Plateau and called on both the government and security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation into the act to avoid a repeat of such tragedy.
He the authorities to sit up and address the security challenges headon.

Pastor Akande implored the both state and federal governments to work out modalities towards ensuring that those displaced go back to their respective communities and enjoined them to coorporate with the government towards resettlement.
Pastor Akande, who visited four IDPs camps in Barakin Ladi along with other senior pastors of the church said food was the most important item that the IDPs needed urgently to ameliorate their predicament. “That is why we are moved to make these donations at this point in time. This gesture is to cushion the hardship being experienced at the moment as Internal Displaced Persons.”he said.
“We are all know that it is not your own making that you are here; none of you is happy to be here. But because situation calls for it, we decided to come and identify with you.There is nothing we will give you that will be equal to what you have lost, but the little we have come with is just to support you,” he said.
He urged government to intensify effort to ensure that the displaced persons (IDPs) return back home in the shortest possible time.
Senior pastors in the entourage include provincial pastor province 2 Pastor Olusoji David, provincial pastor province 1 Pastor Bolurin Idowu- Agida, pastor in charge of province 3, Pastor John Adebiyi among others.
Items donated to the IDPs include 30 bags of maize, six bags of beans, 30cartons of Indome and varieties of seasoning, five bags of salt and 25 bags Semovita.
