A businesswoman has dragged her husband before an Agege Customary Court over allegations of battery and womanising.

The petitioner, Mrs. Caroline Onipede told the court that her husband has abandoned his responsibilities as husband and father in the home.

She further told the court that he is a womanizer.

“We have been married for close to fifteen years, but my husband has never contributed a kobo towards the children’s upkeep.

“When our first daughter was about to write her WAEC, he ran away from home. He called a few weeks later and told me to enroll her in a sewing school instead of furthering her education.

“I singlehandedly paid for her school fees and I am glad she passed in flying colours. My daughter told me a few months ago that she saw her father with another woman entering a hotel in our neighborhood.

“I didn’t believe her, but some other people confirmed this. He is presently in an amorous relationship with several other women. I heard he impregnated a woman in Akute and refused to take responsibility of the pregnancy.”

She asked the court to end their union because she was tired of being a laughing stock in their neighborhood.

“I have become an object of ridicule on our street. My lord, I need a total break from our marriage, “she told the court.

The respondent, Mr Olusegun Onipede however denied all the allegations. “She is lying. I have always been a good father to my children.

“She is always fond of listening to hearsay. I have given her my phone on several occasions to dial all the numbers on it but she refused.

“I sell iron rods and do contribute my quota to the upkeep of my children. I love my wife and I am willing to make amends in whatever way I know I have erred,” he told the court.

The court president, Mr. R.A Williams asked them to bring two members of their families each for possible settlement while he adjourned the matter till April 29.
