Senator Lawal Usman, widely known as ‘Mr. LA,’ representing the Kaduna Central senatorial district, has distributed N500 million in cash and rice as Ramadan gifts to Muslim faithful and others in his district.
The beneficiaries included the underprivileged, imams, clerics, PDP stakeholders, as well as ward, local government, and state party officials and coordinators.
Hon. Abdulrasheed Yaron Kirki, the Director General and Zonal Liaison Officer in the senator’s office, announced this on Sunday.
Yaron Kirki stated that the senator’s gesture was intended to recognize the significance of Ramadan for Muslims.
He explained that cash donations ranged from N50,000 to N1 million per recipient, depending on their status in the community. The beneficiaries were drawn from Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Igabi, Chikun, Kajuru, Kaduna North, and Kaduna South.
“We have distributed Ramadan gifts to imams, clerics, as well as party executives in his constituency. We started the distribution last week in Birnin Gwari, Igabi, and Giwa. This week, we have covered Kajuru, Chikun, Kaduna South, and Kaduna North.
“As you know, we are in a fasting period when Muslims observe Ramadan, and it is good to assist the needy and less privileged, especially at this time. N500 million was earmarked for this,” he said.
“We are also distributing rice. So far, we have received three trailers of rice and expect more, which will be shared among beneficiaries across the constituency,” he said.
He added that party executives from the ward, local government, and state levels, including ex-officio members, were also included in the distribution.
“Each beneficiary will receive between N50,000 and N1 million, depending on their status in the party and community,” he said.
Malam Ibrahim Ali, a PDP chieftain in Kaduna, praised the senator for fulfilling his promises to the people, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
