The Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB) has deployed health officials across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state for a special Ramadan health inspection exercise aimed at ensuring safe and hygienic environments throughout the holy month.

The Director General of the Board, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim, disclosed this on Monday during a strategic meeting with Local Government Area Health Educators and Ward Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) at the Board’s headquarters in Kano.

According to him, the statewide inspection is designed to strengthen coordination and preparedness among frontline health and environmental officers, particularly as commercial and religious activities intensify during Ramadan.

The statement was signed by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Sa’adatu Suleiman Anipr, and made available to newsmen in Kano

Professor Ibrahim said the initiative aligns with the health and sanitation agenda of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, noting that maintaining public health standards during Ramadan remains a priority of the present administration.

He urged the officers to discharge their duties with professionalism, decorum and respect for communities, stressing that their conduct in the field reflects the credibility of both the Board and the state government.

“The success of this exercise depends largely on effective supervision and ethical engagement with the public. Our responsibility is to safeguard public health not only during Ramadan but beyond,” he said.

The Director General also reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to continuous capacity building for health and environmental personnel across the state.

He promised structured training and retraining programmes to enhance modern inspection skills, improve compliance with public health standards and strengthen service delivery in all LGAs.

The Ramadan Special Health Inspection is expected to focus on markets, food vending areas, worship centres and other public spaces to promote sanitation and prevent disease outbreaks during the fasting period.
