Ramadan: Gov Namadi approves over 500 feeding centres in Jigawa

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, in his efforts to assist people in the state during Ramadan, has earmarked over 500 Iftar feeding (breaking of the fast) centers across the state for the next 30 days.

He said, “The gesture came on the heels of the distribution of 150,000 bags of rice, 150,000 bags of maize, and 100,000 cartons of noodles across the 27 LGAs of the state.”

This information was contained in a statement by Hajiya Zainab Rabo Ringim, the Special Assistant to Media Affairs, which was made available to the press in Kano on Monday.

She stated that Governor Namadi said the free feeding centers would allow citizens to break their fast on a daily basis without stress.

“While the governor lamented the current economic hardship in the country, he, however, appealed to citizens to remain patient and prayerful, believing that conditions would soon improve.”

Namadi further stated that the state government, at all levels, is aware of the economic condition of its people and assured that the situation is not permanent.

“The mission was to support citizens and reduce hardship during this trying period, particularly now that the 2024 Ramadan fasting has commenced.”

Governor Namadi further assured that the government would continue to provide various means of supporting the poor and vulnerable to improve their lives.

However, in the statement, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaji Auwalu Sankara, commended Governor Namadi for his passion in supporting poor and vulnerable citizens through various interventions across the state.

Sankara assured that his ministry would supervise the distribution to ensure that the food items reach the poor and vulnerable members of society.
