Residents of Rijiyar Gabas One Hundred Housing Estate in Gusau, Zamfara State, have generously provided food items and clothes to 40 orphans as part of their Ramadan Kareem celebrations.
During the formal distribution exercise in Gusau, the state capital, the Chairman of the committee, Mallam Ya’U Ahmed Daraja Cassette, disclosed that the orphans were carefully selected after an intense screening process. He emphasized that the selection was based on the orphans’ needs and vulnerability within the housing estate.
“This year, we were able to distribute this gesture to the benefiting orphans after receiving assistance from individuals, amounting to N1.042 million,” he stated.
The committee chairman further explained that the 40 orphans, ranging from 2 to 8 years old, were selected, all of whom had lost their fathers. The distribution included both boys and girls from the housing estate.
In his remarks, the committee secretary, Alhaji Ismail Muhammad Birnin Magaji, highlighted the contents of the packages, which included rice, maize, millet, macaroni, and a cash amount of three thousand naira for each beneficiary. He also assured that the committee would continue to support orphans and less privileged individuals in the area, adding that they would seek more avenues for assistance as guided by Allah.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including the Chief Imam of Rijiyar Gabas Housing Estate, Malam Nasiru Mohammed, the Chairman of the housing estate residents, Alh Jibril Dango, Mal. Tukur Naibi, Mal. Sani Nuhu, the Chairman of the NUJ Radio Chapel, Sanusi Danbuga Gummi, and ZUBEB PRO, Labaran Dashi, among others.
