GOV. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has assured development partners of making funds and facilities available to provide quality healthcare services in the state.
Bagudu made this known on Tuesday at the flag-off of this year’s Maternal Newborn Child Health Week in Birnin Kebbi.
“My administration will continue to make funds available to the health sector in order to attain the desired quality of healthcare in the state.
“We have placed a priority on improving healthcare services as well as sustain the support and encouragement to the Ministry of Health towards achieving this objective,” he said.
The governor advised residents seeking healthcare service from any clinic or health centre in the state to report whatever they deem as poor service delivery for rectification.

“People are at liberty to report such cases directly to the Ministry of Health, public office holders, politicians or traditional and community leaders for appropriate action,” he said.
Bagudu explained that the purpose of such action was to prevent “suffering in silence’’ by those in need of healthcare services.
The governor expressed appreciation to the development partners, including UNICEF and USAID, for making an effective contribution to enhancing quality healthcare in the state.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Hajiya Halima Boyi-Dikko, said the programme targeted children under-5 years and pregnant women at the designated health clinics in all the 21 local government areas beginning from this Monday to Saturday this week.
“The services provided include nutritional supplements, immunisation, deworming and ante-natal care services,” she said.
Boyi-Dikko said the government is targeting 75 per cent coverage under the programme which had been designed to make healthcare services easily accessible to women in urban centres and rural areas.
The permanent secretary affirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Health to the sustainability of quality healthcare services.
The Executive Secretary, State Primary Health Care Agency, Dr Abubakar Ka’oje, reiterated the commitment of the agency to strengthen its efforts in achieving the target goals of primary healthcare in the state.
He commended the governor for providing the necessary support to the agency to perform its operations and thanked traditional rulers for mobilising their people to benefit from all health programmes of the state government.
In a separate goodwill message, the representatives of the UNICEF, Mr Ahmed Muhammad, and IHP/USAID, Dr Usman Gebi, affirmed their readiness to continue to partner with the state government in facilitating the attainment of targeted objectives in delivering quality healthcare services to the people.
