The INEC office in Qua’an Pan has been engulfed by fire causing a setback for the preparations for the general elections in the Local Government Area.
According to the Director Voters Education and Publicity, Mr Osareti Imahiyereobo said the cause of the unfortunate incident which occurred at about 11:00 on Saturday was yet to be ascertained adding that a drunken security man was said to have caused the fire outbreak.

He said the office of INEC in the local government was completely burnt with all its content such as Ballot Boxes, Generators serviced and filled with fuel, cubicles, newly printed electronic and manual Voters Register, uncollected PVCs, materials for the preparations of RAC and other materials yet to be identified.
Mr Imahiyereobo said the management team of the Commission in Plateau State led by the Administrative Secretary, Gbadamasi Rasheed has visited the scene adding their assessment would determine the next line of action.
