Prudential Zenith Life Insurance, Next Gen Farms empower over 50 women

Published by

PRUDENTIAL Zenith Life Insurance, in partnership with Next Gen Farms, has empowered women through sustainable gardening skills.

Anchored on this year’s theme, Accelerate Action, over 50 women were trained in essential gardening techniques, equipping them with the knowledge to practice subsistence farming that would enhance food security in their communities.

The company said the initiative underscores its commitment to gender empowerment and sustainability, and by ensuring that women have access to the tools and skills for economic and food independence, Prudential Zenith Life Insurance is paving the way for resilient communities.

The firm said the hands-on training, facilitated by Kofo Durosinmi-Etti, the lead gardener, included practical lessons on soil preparation, seed planting, and sustainable agricultural practices.

Cherise Ige, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer at Prudential Zenith Life Insurance, while speaking at the event, emphasized the significance of investing in women’s self-sufficiency.

He said, “At Prudential Zenith Life, we recognize that empowering women with sustainable skills is key to fostering economic growth and resilience. By equipping these women with gardening and farming knowledge, we are not just teaching them how to cultivate food, but also how to cultivate a future rooted in self-reliance and sustainability.

“The training served as an opportunity for participants to connect with experts, gain hands-on experience, and receive support in starting their own small-scale farming initiatives. This initiative aligns with Prudential Zenith Life and Next Gen’s shared vision of creating long-term solutions that empower communities and accelerate meaningful action towards sustainability and gender equality.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 under the theme ‘Accelerate Action”, we call upon other organisations to join us in championing the empowerment of women and investing in sustainable practices. Together, we can build a future where women thrive, communities flourish, and sustainability becomes a reality for all”.
