Protest: Oyo youths urged against violence

Youths in Oyo State and across the country have been admonished to do away with any act of violence during the nationwide protest scheduled to begin tomorrow.

The admonition was Madeline by the President, Africans Non-violence Movement for Social Changes (AMFOSOC), with chapters in Universities across Nigeria and Polytechnics and student chapter headquartered at The Polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo state, Hon. Olatunji Smith Balogun.

Balogun in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday noted that, “I urge all youth not to engage in violence of any form during the protest and if it is avoidable they should do away with it because the government is also aware of the hardship it is the bad eggs that are not giving room for government support to reach the masses.

“In a recent video which went viral the grains the Tinubu-led government gave order to be distributed nationwide were being rebagged by some group of people for resale to the masses.

“Let all youth go to their rooms and think beyond the box to provide solutions to such happenings The bane of Nigeria’s problem is the lack of data base of citizens from the community, local government, to state and federal level.

“For instance if someone like me is given to represent my people in government, I’ll suggest ways we will be out of the numerous problems.

“This is part of reason I aspired for a seat in The Oyo State House of Assembly and Local Government Chairmanship of Ibadan North East Local Government under the NNPP and can’t stop thanking my political father Alhaji Adebisi Aremu Olopoeyan, for giving me the chance to showcase my ability under the NNPP.”

Hon. Balogun, one of the children of the late great lbadan politician and labour activist, Abdul-Ghani Kolawole Balogun, who was the first chairman of the defunct Ibadan Municipal Government (IMG -1977 to 1979), contested in the 2023 general election, for the Oyo House of Assembly, in lbadan North East constituency 2 and chairman Ibadan North East Local government.
