Prophet Christopher Olabisi Akanda Owolabi of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Ori-Oke Irapada, Omu-Aran, Kwara State, has raised the alarm over what he described as increasing moral corruption among religious leaders in the country.
Speaking with Tribune Church in Omu Aran, he said many religious leaders had acted against God’s commandments because of financial inducement, thus serving as bad examples for their peers and followers.
“Many men of God are morally corrupt in this country. For instance, why should I shy away from telling a member of my congregation who is a corrupt political office holder that pays his tithe regularly the righteous way and the truth. I should be able to tell him the truth,” he said.
The cleric, who advised President Muhammadu Buhari, to encourage the younger political class into power in 2019, said such efforts would be more rewarding for the nation’s development.
He said posterity would forever remember him for laying a good foundation for a better Nigeria, particularly with the younger generation of political leaders.
He commended the activities of the Kwara State House of Assembly, under the speakership of Rt. Hon. (Dr) Ali Ahmad, saying that he had been able to promote development-oriented programmes in a cordial atmosphere with the executive arm of government.
