Property destroyed as gas plant explodes in Niger

The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) reported a gas explosion that occurred at the Tasiu Gas Plant in Sabon Wuse, Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State on Saturday, at approximately 11:00 PM.

In a press statement issued on Sunday by NSEMA’s Director General, Hon. Abdullahi Baba Arah, it was noted that the explosion happened during the transloading of gas from a trailer tanker to a surface tank.

The gas-laden trailer and the plant were completely engulfed in flames.

Additionally, a car belonging to Abubakar Yakubu, which was parked near the Ngeil Grains Processing Factory behind the gas plant, was also destroyed by the fire.

The statement mentioned that around 550 bags of beans and six bags of soybeans were also lost in the inferno.

Baba Arah, however, noted that as of the time of filing this report, no life was lost, adding that the fire had been put under control, while normalcy had returned to the site of the gas explosion incident at Sabon Wuse in Tafa LGA of the State.
