Prominent Nigerians have been honoured as Prowess University, Delaware, USA held its leadership summit and induction of honorary doctorate degree award in Ibadan.
The notable Nigerians were recognised and awarded an honorary doctorate degree by the institution.
The event which was held on Saturday at the University of Ibadan, witnessed recognition of top professionals.
The recipients include UK based Business Mogul, Micheal Aje, Real Estate Expert and Ogun High Chief, Olalekan Olakunle, Chief Executive Officer, Kamen Construction Limited, Edmund Oshioke, Philanthropist Olalekan Ademolake, Chairman, Green Atlas Holdings, Tayo Adebisi, Business mogul, Olatunji Awodiran.
The theme of this year’s edition of the event was ‘Entrepreneurship Creation as tool for peace’.
The event was held in conjunction with professional bodies including, Institute of Arts Management and Ecolerite Institute of Peace Advancement.
While the six prominent Nigerians bagged honorary doctorate degrees, 11 were inducted by West Africa Youth Council as ECOWAS Youth Ambassador and 16 other Nigerians bagged fellowship award of the Ecolerite Institute of Peace Advancement (FEIPA).
Speaking, the African representative of the institution, Professor Eze Nwauba explained that those awarded were chosen based on their outstanding leadership activities and for the mark they have made in leadership circles.
Nwauba who was represented by the Southwest Nigeria Representative of the institution, Dr Ola Oyedele, described the recipients as men and women who have made remarkable marks in their various endeavours, and who have sacrificed a lot for the impact of humanity.
According to him, the institute has collaborated with many professional bodies, corporate organisations, and universities to ensure the training and certificates are backed by institutions that set standards in the various fields.
Speaking on the theme ‘Entrepreneurship Creation as tool for peace’, Guest speaker at the event, Professor Godwin Oyedokun of the Department of Management and Accounting, Lead City University, charged Nigerians on being innovative in nature so that society can benefit from them in a bid to bring more peace .
While he emphasised the need for youths to engage themselves in different entrepreneurial skills to prevent themselves from engaging in social vices.
Adding that young Nigerians should strive to be an employer of labour instead of waiting on government alone to create all jobs in the society.
Speaking with journalists, one of the awardees, Dr Olatunji Awodiran appreciated the University for the honor while he pledged to continue to be a patriotic Nigerian and as well continue with his contributions to humanity. ‎
