Professionalism will reduce attacks on officials —FRSC

The Acting Zonal Commanding Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zone RS11, Osogbo, Osun State, Mr Gbenga Shobowale-Oke, has lamented the recent spate of attacks on FRSC officials, operations and equipment, particularly those of Jigawa and Abia states. He added that such could have been prevented, or at least managed effectively without injuries to officers if professionalism had taken centre stage.

Mr Shobowale-Oke stated this during the third quarter 2017 retreat for officers of the Oyo Sector Command in Ibadan, the state capital.

Speaking further, he said the theme of the retreat, Professionalism in Road Safety Management, was coming at the right time, as it would build officers’ professionalism, particularly in relating to members of the public, as well as towards achieving the corps 2017 corporate strategic goals.

In her welcome address, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mrs Cecilia Alao, said that the sector had recorded progress in reducing road traffic accidents, “but more work still needs to be done in this aspect.”

In her brief remarks on the occasion, the Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command, Mrs Omolade Faboyede, commended the relationship between the FRSC and her agency, while admitting that such inter-agency collaboration would bring about a better society for the people.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, who was represented by the Mogaji Adanla, Chief Abduljelili Adekunle Kareem, while commending the work the FRSC is doing in reducing accidents on the roads, charged officers of the corps to put in more efforts towards reducing road accidents further.
