Professor Ezekiel Ogheneyerovwo Agbalagba has emerged as the new vice chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State.
Prof. Agbalagba succeeds Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, whose tenure has expired.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of FUPRE, Engr. Issa Bello Gachi, on Friday, said a total of 39 people were shortlisted for interview and presented to the Governing Council of the institution for consideration and approval.
He stated further that after a careful evaluation, Prof. Agbalagba came top as the Vice Chancellor of the University.
“Following a thorough evaluation process, 39 people were shortlisted for interview and presented to the Governing Council for consideration and approval.
“After careful deliberation, Prof E. O. Agbalagba emerged as the VC and the Council formally approved his appointment,” the outgoing VC noted.
He described Prof. Agbalagba as an experienced academic who has a distinctive leadership quality and is therefore suitable for the office.
Responding to the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor, FUPRE’s outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rim-Rukeh, expressed his happiness.
He described the handover process as seamless, given the fact that the Governing Council followed due process for selection.
