THE primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend (Dr) Henry Ndukuba, has launched the Joshua Generation Digital Economy Training (JGIYC Digital Economy Skills Training), aligning with CoN vision of nurturing its young people to become transformational leaders in all spheres of life and to possess the Seven Mountains of Influence in society for God’s Kingdom.
This programme according to the church targets the first cohort of 500 young individuals for a 90-day intensive tech boot camp, including, Intensive Tech Training; Global Facilitators, and Internship Opportunities.
Ndukuba noted that the initiative reflects a commitment to equipping young people with the necessary skills to thrive as entrepreneurs in the digital economy while fostering Kingdom and spiritual growth.
Recall that at the closing ceremony of the annual Joshua Generation International Youth Conference 2023 edition, the convener and Primate of the Church of Nigeria declared the plan to train 5,000 young people in the thriving digital economy which entails empowering them with digital skills, its entrepreneurship angle aimed at empowering them to become ambassadors of positive change in the society and self-sustaining.
In his words, Primate Ndukuba stated, “Everyone of us knows that one of the thriving and growing economies throughout the world is the digital economy, therefore between this year and our next conference, we are going to pay attention to ICT. We shall be training 5,000 young people and releasing them into the digital economy to occupy cyberspace for Christ and the kingdom of God.”
The primate added that this initiative is coming at the right time when the digital space is being occupied and most young people are into it for bad reasons. We will train young people who are believers and release them to occupy that space for God transforming it for good.
The training process will commence with registration processes at the end of June 2024 followed by selection processes and orientation with the training running through three months (August to October).
