Nigerians generally could always blame all of their troubles on politicians – sentiments with which I wholeheartedly agree.
However, I see the present travail of workers as a kind of crucible that will test their character or the character of pensioners to the limit. I recall one statement reportedly made by President Bola Tinubu during a campaign in Osun State – I think – about workers, “…how they would suffer…” That statement could not be said to be that of a leader with a sunny disposition towards workers. Of course, you cannot know a man completely, his character, his judgement, not until he shows his colours while ruling the people. The prejudice against workers must be peeled away by the President to ameliorate the hardship being experienced by workers by paying wages and salaries without any further delay.
