The Force Public Relations Office, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has warned Nigerians to stop paying for bail affirming that “bail is free.”
The Police spokesperson who is an Assistant Commissioner of Police warned that free paid bail is either going to the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) or “solicitor” or better put, Surety and not to Police or government.
Adejobi in a post on X on Monday stated this while engaging with netizens on the app.
He posted, “Bail is free, so dont blackmail the police. Many of you think the police collect bail money for your release, but you never knew those who negotiate or stand in for you, cash out on you. Not in all cases police collect money for bail, but your “solicitor” or better put, Surety, is living fat on you.
“And many of them will soon meet their Waterloo. I repeat it, don’t pay for bail for administrative bail. If you do, you only enrich that IPO, not the police or government. Let’s be guided.”
