Police say rumours of kidnapped Anambra native doctor’s release, fake

Published by

Anambra State Police Command have spoken on the rumours that kidnapped native doctor, Chinedu Nwangwu, also known as Akwa Okuko Tiwaraki has been released.

Nigerian Tribune had earlier reported that the native doctor was kidnapped on Sunday night in his hotel Triple P, in Oba, Idemili North Local Government Area of the State.

Two of his security aides were shot dead, while he was whisked away by the kidnappers.

Meanwhile, some of his fans on social media have started circulating rumours that he had been released.

Some posted a video of him advertising his powers, saying that his charms and powers could help anyone capture even a gun wielding man with bare hands.

Those who shared the video were using it to support the rumour that he has returned unharmed.

Another source said the man turned into a lion and scared the kidnappers, who quickly abandoned him.

A source on Facebook, with the name Mgbadike announced his safe return, posting a video of him being welcomed by some youths, while he sprayed money in the air.

Checks on the videos have however shown that they are all old videos, which the young native doctor had posted on his Facebook handle previously.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said that there is no news of the return of the native doctor yet.

“I don’t have such information before me,”

The PPRO had earlier told Nigerian Tribune that operatives of the command have been ordered by CP Aderemi Adeoye, to immediately go after the kidnappers.

Many social media users have been making mockery of the native doctor, following his claims of being powerful, and the way he was kidnapped without much hassle.
