Kwara State Police Command on Sunday said that it has successfully effected rescue and release of twin daughters of a third class traditional ruler in Kwara state.
In a release by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Okasanmi Ajayi, the kidnapped twins were rescued along with the other three maids of the monarch abducted last Thursday evening.
It is reported that suspected kidnappers kidnapped twin daughters of a third class traditional ruler in Kwara state, including three other aides of the monarch, the Owalobo of Obbo Ayegunle in Ekiti local government area of the state, Oba Samuel Adelodun.
The twin daughters of the traditional ruler, who are six years old school children, were reportedly abducted last Thursday evening, while the vehicle conveying them were abandoned on the road.
The daughters of the traditional ruler, who are school children of the Landmark University School, Omu Aran were abducted alongside the driver of the monarch, Kunle ‘male’, his security official, Lawrence Abiodun ‘male’, and his maid Bukunmi Akanbi ‘female’.
The statement said: The Kwara State Police Command is pleased to inform the members of the Public of the successful search and rescue operations conducted in the kidnap incidents involving twin girls of HRM Oba Samuel Adelodun, the Owalobo of OBBO Ayegunle in Ekiti Local government area of Kwara State and three servants on 14/10/2021.
The feat, as usual, was made possible with the confidence reposed in the Kwara State Police Command, the support of the families of the victims and the collaboration of vigilante and local hunters of the area and the Royal Highness the Owalobo of OBBO Ayegunle.
The Kidnappers were under intense pressure from the forces of the Command’s Tactical teams, and the vigilante had no option than to abandon their victims and escaped into the bushes.
The victims were thereafter rescued unhurt, medically examined, found healthy and handed over to their families. The effort is still being intensified to arrest the fleeing kidnappers.
Confidence building patrols and stop and search procedures by men of the Kwara Police Command has been ordered in the area by the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State, CP Tuesday Assayomo.
