Police rescue kidnapped Rev Sister in Benue

A Reverend Sister who was abducted by gunmen at Ichama in Okpokwu local government area of Benue State on Friday night has been rescued by the state police command.

The Reverend Sister was reportedly abducted around 11pm on Friday when some gunmen invaded a convent at Ichama in Okpokwu council.

Hardly have the gunmen whisked the Reverend Sister away that policemen on patrol were alerted and gave the kidnappers hot chase, making them to abandon her.

The state police command spokesperson, DSP Catherine Anene stated this while reacting to the report that a Reverend Sister was abducted by some gunmen at Ichama village in Okpokwu council area.

She added, “About 2300hrs, information was received that armed men overpowered the civilian security man at the gate of the convent in Ichama village and adopted a Reverend Sister.”

“The police on routine patrol in the area responded quickly and chased the hoodlums into a nearby forest where they abandoned the victim and took to their heels. 

Anene said that the Reverend Sister had been taken to an undisclosed hospital in Okpoga, headquarters of Okpokwu council, where she is currently responding to treatment.

The PPRO said that police detective were on the trail of the suspects.
