The Delta State Police Command on Tuesday presented cheques totaling ₦37,663,936 to 35 families of deceased officers who died while in active service.

The cheques, issued on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, were part of the IGP Family Welfare Scheme and the Group Life Assurance programme.

Presenting the cheques, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Olufemi Abaniwonda, said the nation and the Nigeria Police Force deeply appreciate the sacrifices made by the fallen officers.

He noted that the welfare of both serving and late officers’ families remains a priority for the IGP, adding that the gesture was in line with this commitment.

According to Abaniwonda, the funds will go a long way in supporting the beneficiaries while serving as a reminder that, although their loved ones are no longer alive, the Force has not forgotten their service and sacrifice.

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Chidinma Paul, expressed gratitude to the IGP for his generosity, assuring that the money would be put to good use.
