The Nigeria Police, through the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Department of Force Intelligence (DFI), has invited the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, for questioning in connection with allegations of criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.
According to a letter sighted by Tribune Online, dated August 18, 2024, and signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Nadamu S. Muazu, acting on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ajaero is expected to appear for questioning on Tuesday, August 20th.
The letter reads:
LETTER OF INVITATION
”This office is investigating a case of Criminal Conspiracy, Terrorism Financing, Treasonable Felony, Subversion and Cybercrime in which you were mentioned.
2. You are therefore invited to interview the undersigned on Tuesday 20th Aug, 2024 by 10:00hrs prompt, at IRT Complex, Old Abattoir by Guzape Junction, Abuja, through the Team Leader with telephone no 08035179870 in connection with the above investigation.
3. Be informed that in the event of failing to honour this letter, this office will have no alternative than to activate a warrant of arrest against you please.
The letter requested his presence at the IRT Complex in Guzape District, Abuja, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, for an interview regarding the ongoing investigation.”

According to the letter, the investigation involves serious offenses, and Ajaero’s name has been linked to the case.
The letter further warned that failure to comply with the invitation may lead to the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.
The NLC president is expected to meet with the Team Leader at the IRT Complex to clarify his involvement, if any, in the case.
