Police investigate murder of 28-year-old in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has strongly condemned the gruesome killing of a young man, Lawan Adamu, 28, at the outskirts of Nayi Nawa Bypass in Damaturu.

According to the Command’s PPRO, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, “On September 15, at about 22:30 hours, ‘A’ Division Police Headquarters, Damaturu, received a distress call reporting a corpse with deep cuts.”

The PPRO added, “Police arrived to find the victim with deep throat cuts and multiple stab wounds. A blood-stained knife was recovered at the scene.”

Dungus Abdulkarim further stated, “The body was removed to the General Hospital, Damaturu, where it was confirmed dead by a medical doctor. The corpse has been deposited at the hospital morgue.”

He then noted that deliberate efforts by the Division led to the arrest of the prime suspect, Yunusa Isa, also known as Abba, aged 24, from the same area.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, has directed detectives to expand their investigation to uncover the circumstances behind the incident.

He assured the public that the investigation will be swift and thorough, emphasizing that justice will be served. He also called on anyone with further information or inquiries to contact: 08065662808 and 08065682446.
