Police intercept vehicle loaded with rustled cattle in Niger

The Niger State Police Command has intercepted a vehicle loaded with suspected rustled cows and sheep along Sarkin Pawa road.

The police operatives, attached to the Maitumbi Division, made the interception during a routine stop and search operation along Gwada-Maitunbi road.

The vehicle, a Canter lorry, was found to be carrying a large number of animals suspected to have been rustled.

Five suspects, including the driver and his motor boys, were arrested in connection with the incident.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu A. Abiodun, the police received information that a vehicle loaded with suspected stolen cattle was heading to Minna, prompting the interception.

The police are investigating the incident to determine the source of the animals and the motive behind the suspected rustling.
