Police foil robbery operations, arrest 3 suspects in Ogun

THE Police in Ogun State have arrested three suspects in connection with a robbery operation at Golden Heritage Estate at Mowe community in the state.

The suspects were said to have stormed the estate at about 3.00p.m, on January 25 in an operation that was foiled by men of the command attached to Mowe Divisional Headquarters.

According to a statement by the image-maker of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the robbery suspects, armed with weapons, inflicted injuries on security personnel attached to the estate in an attempt to steal iron rods estimated to worth several millions of naira.

They were said to have successfully packed the item before they were intercepted by the anti-robbery squad, led by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Mowe, CSP Francis Ebhuoma.

The police were reported to have engaged the robbers in gun duel and succeeded in demobilising the lorry that contained the iron rods.

Those arrested were Monsuru Mukaila, Abdulahi Ogundiya and Shaeed Ishola while other members of the gang were said to have escaped with their weapons.

The injured security personnel were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmed Iliyasu, commended the efforts of his men and ordered immediate transfer of the suspects to Anti- Robbery section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department,  Eleweran, for further investigation.

He was said to have equally directed that the fleeing members of the gang be brought to book.
