Police arrest two armed robbery suspect in Anambra

Anambra State Police Operatives have arrested two armed robbers suspected in Awka, the state capital.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a statement, said the arrest followed the rejigged Personnel Operational Positioning in the State Capital, Awka, by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam.

He said the Police operation on May 19, 2024, by 12:25 pm, intercepted two young men in a tricycle along Amawbia, Nibo road and recovered one locally made pistol and a tricycle

“The Armed men, both 25 years of age, are Chigozie Echiebu of Urum Village, Awka LGA, and Edwine Emmanuel of Nkerefi Village in Nkanu East LGA of Enugu State.

“The suspects have provided Police with information on their mode of Operations and names of other gang members, which is already aiding the ongoing investigation.

To this end, the CP has directed that the investigation be widened and deepened to bring to light all those connected, and the case should be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
