Niger State Police Command have arrested a 34-year-old security man, identified as Henry Musa who allegedly sold a vehicle entrusted to him at Awka in Anambra State and eloped from the South-Eastern State to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and from there to Dikko in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State, along Kaduna -Abuja highways.
A press statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Wasiu Abiodun and made available to journalists on Friday in Minna confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
According to the statement, “On 02/7/2024 at about 0830hrs, based on credible information received, Police operatives attached to Sabon-Wuse Division arrested one Henry Musa 34yrs of Awka, Anambra State with a Toyota Camry vehicle marked No. LND 851 CJ suspected to have been stolen.”
The statement added that the suspect was seen at Dikko, along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Tafa area of Niger State with duplicate copies of the document to sell the vehicle.
Abiodun stated further that the Police operatives of the division were quickly mobilised to the area and the suspect was taken into custody with the vehicle.
It was further revealed that during interrogation, he allegedly confessed that he was a security man in a hotel at Awka and that the key of the vehicle was entrusted to him by the owner, while he decided to take the vehicle away, and was taken to Dikko in order to dispose of it.
Abiodun, however, assured that the suspect is still under investigation adding that the suspect will soon be transferred to the State Criminals Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution immediately after the investigations must have been concluded.
