The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Eze Amadi, for allegedly killing his neighbour’s 28-year-old son, Ifeanyi Otu, in Kajola community, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the suspect allegedly tortured the victim to death and concealed his remains inside a water drum, with the intention of disposing of the corpse at night.
However, some residents reportedly intercepted Amadi while attempting to evacuate the body on a motorcycle and dispose it in the late hour of the day.
The victim’s father, Mr. Michael Otu, while speaking on the killing of his son, described it as devastating, demanding justice from the authorities.
He said, “I was at home when I received a call that my son’s body, wrapped with foam, had been discovered inside a water drum.
“When I got to the scene, I saw him lying lifeless after the drum was cut open. I was told that the suspect was caught while trying to dispose the body. Justice must be served in this case,”
Confirming the incident, the state police spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the suspect had been arrested, and said investigation was ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to him, the suspect is already in police custody and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
He urged residents of the community to remain calm, saying that the law would take its course.
“The suspect is already in our custody, investigation is ongoing and after it is concluded, he will be charged to court. I urge residents to remain calm over the matter,” Ayanlade said.
At press time, the cause of the quarrel between the suspect and the deceased remained unclear.
