The Police in Ogun State have arrested six members of a kidnap gang who killed one Femi Olatunji, at Igbokoda area of Ondo State, last Friday.

The victim was said to have left his Isheri home, Lagos State, on a business trip to Ondo State and never returned to his family alive, as the kidnappers having disposseded him of his valuables took his life afterwards.

Those arrested were Fadeni Henry; Lebile Olatunji; Ehuwa Oririe; Olotu Tosin; Oluwole Odunayo and Peter Omogbemi.

The suspected criminals after dispossessed the victim of his valuables which include a certain amount of money, withdrawal from his bank account through the Automated Teller Machine (ATM), killed him and dumped his body in a river behind Holy Trinity African Primary School, Igbokoda.

Parading the suspects at the headquarters of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), the State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said the operatives of FSARS upon receiving the information swung into action and stormed the hideout of the hoodlums at Igbokoda.

The suspected kidnappers were said to have engaged the Police in a gun battle which lasted for almost 2-hours and were later apprehended by the team led by SP Uba Bangadiya.

They were equally reported to have contacted the victim’s wife for ransom before her husband could be left the hook.

The incident was reported at a Police Station in Isheri and the Police upon the information commenced investigation which led to their arrest.

Items recovered from them include a Nissan Pathfinder Jeep marked LAGOS EPE 603 AT belonging to the victim, one pump action gun, one cut to size locally made pistol, seven live cartridges and a Gionee handset.

The corpse of the victim was recovered by the Police for autopsy.

The Police boss cautioned people to be security conscious in everything they do and avoid business trips with strangers in an unfamiliar terrain.

He also warned parents to take good care of their children and train them in a responsible manner, noting that Ogun State will not be conducive for kidnappers and other criminals, except they change their ways.
