The Niger State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has intensified efforts to combat thuggery, youth restiveness, and armed robbery in Minna metropolis.
On July 30, 2025, between 3:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., police operatives from the Anti-Thuggery Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), in collaboration with officers from Maitumbi and Central Police Stations and local vigilantes, conducted a sting operation in Angwan-Roka, Kwari-Berger, Flamingo, and Tudun—areas under Maitumbi, Minna.
During the operation, 24 suspects were arrested at various locations. Among them are Abubakar Nura (23), Auwal Mohammed (20), Suleiman Hassan (21), and Alhassan Mohammed (19), all residents of Angwan-Roka and Maitumbi.

According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended in a residence used as a hideout by a notorious gang leader, Saidu Umar Namaska, who is currently at large.
A search of the premises led to the recovery of an automatic pump-action gun with two live cartridges, a bolt cutter, cutlasses, scissors, shisha pots, and suspected illicit substances.
Other suspects arrested include Usman Abubakar Bahago (18), Abubakar Sadiq Bahago (24), and Mubarak Abubakar (18), all from Angwan-Roka. These individuals were apprehended in another house used by a known gang leader, Sudaise, where dangerous weapons were also recovered.
