Plateau PDP says Dariye’s defection, a loss to be regained in 2019

CHIEF Damishi Sango, Plateau Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has re-iterated that the defection of Sen Joshua Dariye to APC is a loss which will eventually be reclaimed in 2019.

Sango made the declaration on Thursday in Mangu during the youth and women empowerment programme of Rep. Solomon Maren during which over 500 persons were given various take-off grants for self reliance skills.

The state PDP chairman who spoke through his vice, Central Zone, Mr Benedict Shiknuhul, urged all PDP members in the zone to rise up to the challenge to reclaim the mandate given to Dariye on the Party’s platform.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Dariye had, in December 2016, defected to APC, citing internal division in PDP  as reason.

“We are not happy that Senator Dariye defected to APC after we voted him to go and represent us at the National Assembly.

“You and I have to prepare very well to see that in 2019, we reclaim that mandate from Dariye who has abandoned us in spite of the trust we bestowed on him,’’ he said.

According to him, Plateau Central has lost a lot in the area of projects, and other benefits could have come to the zone like Rep Maren is doing to Mangu/Bokkos federal constituency.

Sango pledged the party’s resolve to reclaim power from APC in 2019, to give Plateau people a better leadership and representation.

He called on the people to ensure that qualitative and credible people were chosen as party agents at all polling units in 2019.

“The real thing is at the polling units; so we must shop and present qualitative agents so that we can stop any likely form of rigging against us,’’ the party boss advised.

The chairman had commended Maren for his continuous “life touching and laudable programmes for the people of his constituency”, and urged other elected officials and philanthropists to emulate the lawmaker.
