Plateau PDP accuses Lalong of reckless spending •It is figment of your imagination —Lalong

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Plateau State, has accused Governor Simon Lalong of reckless spending and challenged him to explain how over N97 billion received as revenue in the past one year was spent without anything to show for it.

In a swift reaction, Governor Lalong, through his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Emmanuel Nanle, said the figure was a figment of the party’s imagination,  adding that  PDP in the state is still suffering from post-election trauma.

Addressing newsmen in Jos, the state chairman of PDP, Honourable Damishi Sango, said despite the huge sum received, it was not utilised towards alleviating the suffering of the people, adding that more than  a  year, the people are still languishing  under the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration.

Sango also want the governor to explain why his administration spent N1.4 billion to purchase and install GPRS tracking devices in 100 cars, adding this translates to N14 million to track  a car for  a year.

The PDP chairman further accused the APC- led  administration of creating unnecessary distraction by  engaging in whipping up sentiments and controversy over the handover notes from the previous administration.

Reacting to the allegations, the state governor, through  Nanle, said all the allegations were just an attempt to stir up controversy and sentiment to cover up their failure.

Nanle  said  that the figure reeled out by the opposition party were far away from the  truth, adding that the government only received  a  sum of N10.5 billion from the bail out and N14 billion for budget support fund ,adding that  the latter was a  loan  in principle, staggered for  13months.

The Director of Press and Public Affairs, who said  the allegation of N14 billion for GPRS and trackers, were figment of the party’s imagination, challenged PDP in the state to throw the vouchers of those figures  in public domain, instead of concocting imaginary figures to spite the administration on a rescue mission.

“So, they are just waking up from their slumber, it is good for them. But, we are challenging them to come up with  vouchers to back up their claim and place it in public domain because credible opposition is borne out of fact. From all indications, they are yet to come out of post-election trauma,” he said.
