Plateau state government has threatened to deal decisively with any citizen both in public and private sectors that plan to frustrate its efforts to boost revenue generation in the state

The State Commissioner for finance, Mrs Tamwakat Weli who made this known while addressing newsmen on 2017 budget breakdown in Jos said Lalong led administration is determined to better the lives of its citizens.

She said the Government has put in place a number of measures to address the dwindling finances of the state like the centralization of taxes and levies into single Treasury Account (TSA) through the use of SMART collect platform, thereby enhancing the revenue generation of the state and checking leakage and fraud in financial operations.

The Commissioner further declared that arrangement has been concluded by her ministry to set up revenue monitoring team to ensure effective compliance in the area of collection and lodgement of same into the SMART collect platform.

“Also in a drive to strengthen the financial management system of the state, government has established an efficiency unit, public procurement agency, coordinating office for all donor funds to save cost in government expenditures process and attract investment.”

“Taxes and rates between the state and local government have been harmonised awaiting the governor, s assent .this when effective will avoid double taxation ,conflict and Will further enhanced accountability and transparency.” she said

She also disclosed that the ministry is working towards enhancing collaboration with other revenue authorities such as FIRS for synergy, thanked the citizens of the state for their continues support to the Lalong led adminstration
